Hauerwas on Reading the Bible

"I fear that I will not be able to satisfy Richard's [Hays] suggestion that I need to articulate a 'coherent hermeneutical position,' but I hope to make clear why I do not believe a 'coherent hermeneutical position' is much help for reading the Bible." (Stanley Hauerwas, "Why 'The Way the Words Run' Matters: Reflections on Becoming a 'Major Biblical Scholar'", in The Word Leaps the Gap: Essays on Scripture and Theology in Honor of Richard B. Hays, 2)
I have nothing more profound to say than Hauerwas makes me laugh.

(And that I hear the essay in this volume on John's use of the psalms is especially profound.)
